Motivate Employees with Workplace Recognition

Some bosses or managers might assume that the standard pat on the back after a job well done is enough to please most employees. However, new emerging data has found people in the workplace need more praise for their hard work in order for them to continue to put their hearts into the business in which they're involved.

New statistics have found employees around the nation are more disengaged in their workplace than ever before, nearly 71 percent are not engaged in their office at all, while just 45 percent of these workers think they have positive interactions with their coworkers. This is a huge difference than the experience engaged workers have – 86 percent admitted to having positive interactions with their fellow employees.

Looking closer, it was found much of the sore loser attitude displayed by unhappy workers was linked to a lack of recognition or praise when they did something above and beyond to help their company. Nearly 16 percent of employees left their previous job due to a lack of recognition, while 17 percent of workers interviewed admitted they have never been recognized for their efforts in the workplace. Another 35 percent of workers claimed lack of recognition as the biggest hindranceto their productivity.

These may seem like some somber numbers and facts, yet there are ways to change the mood of the entire office, and it starts with showing employees some recognition. The best way to motivate employees may be to present trophies, glass awards or even custom awards to workers that go above and beyond every month. This may not only motivate others to strive for excellence, but can also keep employees happy, as it shows their hard work does not go unnoticed. Seventy-eight percent of workers said being recognized helps to motivate them in their job, while 69 percent admitted they would work harder on their tasks if they were better recognized by their company. Sixty-three percent of employees said they have no plans on leaving their current position and a part of the reason is due to being satisfied with their level of recognition, while 24 percent who do plan to search out a new job reported finding jobs that are known for employee recognition will be high on their list.

Employers looking to make some positive changes around their offices may want to follow these ideas, not only to create a happier work environment, but also to save money. Overall, disengaged employees cost the U.S. more than $300 billion in expenses. Managers may also want to think about the fact that there's probably more room in the budget for purchasing corproate awards than completely retraining new staff.

4 Times to Recognize an Employee with a Custom Award

Prestigious awards are for more than just athletes and award shows. Many employers have found success by incorporating premium crystal awards, plaques, and statues into their internal recognition programs. Through these awards, employers can recognize a major achievement, an employee's contributions, and celebrate a job well done. Employee awards don't need to be given out just once per year either, as these four occasions are suitable for a premium award.

Recognize Another Year of Excellence

A work anniversary is something worth celebrating. In the modern career, it's not too uncommon for someone to change jobs every few years, so when an employee stays with a company for 5 or 10 years, it's a significant feat. For this reason, many companies use premium crystal or acrylic awards to recognize an employee's work anniversary at a major milestone. Every year an employee is with the company is another year full of significant achievements, problems solved, and productivity gained. Acknowledge that employee's loyalty with a premium award, especially if they hit a significant number of years like 5, 10, 20, and so on.

Reward KPI-Busters

Some people will take any goal, no matter how seemingly big it is, run with it, and defeat all expectations. These KPI-busters are worth acknowledging because they do so much for their team and the company as a whole. A premium award can serve as the reward for all of their diligence and could help to inspire other team members to rise to the next challenge and follow in the recipient's footsteps. Whether someone beat the monthly sales goal or helped to onboard even more clients than expected, show appreciation for these overachievers.

Acknowledge Proficiency

When someone is highly proficient in their role, it benefits the entire team. Things move much more smoothly throughout the day, and the results are hard to ignore. These corporate MVPs need recognition to know that their hard work doesn't go unnoticed, and a custom award can do just that. They'll display their new crystal award on their desk with pride as it serves as a reminder of what they do best. Reinforce your company's appreciation for their unique skills with an MVP-worthy custom award.

Mark a New Chapter

Everyone's career is full of chapters. A resumé can sometimes seem like a story told in chronological order. Promotions play a role in this, marking the end of one career chapter and the start of the next. When someone on the team receives a promotion and begins a new role, an award can serve as a bookmark acknowledging the progress they've made while looking forward to the exciting challenges that await. If you know someone in the company is being promoted soon, mark the start of this new chapter with a premium crystal or acrylic award.

When it comes to recognizing, acknowledging, and celebrating an employee, the award should be representative of the occasion. Custom awards allow you to put the recipient's name front and center, along with details of the occasion.
