The International Animated Film Society announced that its 38th Annie Awards will be held on February 5 at the University of California, Los Angeles’ Royce Hall. The award ceremony recognizes the best in the animated industry.
This year, the ceremony will be hosted by Tom Kenny. While many people may not know the name right off the top of their heads, they’ll surely recognize his voice, as he’s behind the beloved Nickelodeon cartoon SpongeBob SquarePants.
“ASIFA-Hollywood is thrilled to have Tom Kenny serve as the host of this year’s Annie Awards,” says ASIFA-Hollywood President Antran Manoogian. “Tom’s comedic humor and antics should make for a fun and entertaining award ceremony.”
At the ceremony, Brad Bird, Eric Goldberg and Matt Groening will receive the Winsor McCay Award. The recognition award honors those who have dedicated their entire careers to making a major contribution to the animation industry.
The Annie Awards consist of a number of categories, including best feature, character animation, animation to storyboarding, writing, music and voice acting.
