Spiceworks wins recognition award for social media

Spiceworks, which develops free social IT management applications that combine network management and help desk software through an online community, was recently named the winner of the Forrester Groundswell Award in the Business to Business Energizing category.

The company was presented with the recognition award during the Forrester Consumer Forum 2010. There were more than 130 entries for the awards, which are held in four categories. These include Business-to-Business, Business-to-Consumer, Management and Business-to-Consumer International.

"Once again, the entrants and winners for this year's Forrester Groundswell Awards amazed us," said Josh Bernoff, senior vice president of Forrester Research Incorporated. "We were particularly impressed with the diverse and effective social and mobile strategies that organizations are now using to reach consumers, business companies, and their own employees."

Scott Abel, the cofounder and chief executive officer (CEO) of Spiceworks, said that the company was honored to be recognized for its work in social media, trying to reach out to a larger audience base. The company has more than 1.2 million users.
