Even though the hosting gig during last year's Golden Globes left some uncomfortable, Ricky Gervais will host the awards show for the third time in a row when they air January 15th, according to Variety.
Gervais poked fun at many A-list celebs at last year's show, and some believed he took it too far. Because of this, they did not expect that he would be returning for this show and Gervais himself was hesitant as well, according to the media outlet.
"While many welcome Gervais's return, not everyone is happy with the decision, because last year his blunt one-liners targeting big-name celebrities caused anger and resentment in some quarters. After the show, Gervais dismissed the possibility of coming back for a third time, but he gradually warmed to the idea and last month met with Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) President Dr. Aida Takla-O'Reilly in Paris to discuss it," said representatives from HFPA in a statement, the publication reports.
According to the Washington Post, it has been rumored that Gervais would be hosting again after the head of NBC's specials programming unit and the president of HFPA met up with him in Paris a month ago.
