The six nominees for this year’s National Principal Award, which is given to both a high school and middle school principal, was recently announced. According to the Salt Lake Tribune, one of their local principals was one of the six.
Robert Sonju is the principal at Fossil Ridge Intermediate School in St. George, Utah, and was one of the nominees chosen by a panel of judges, the news source reports.
According to the Hartford Courant, New Britain High School principal Michael Foran is another nominee. Foran has been the head of one of the largest high schools in Connecticut, and has been since 2007. He has been recognized for enhancing the environment by utilizing more personal tactics.
The other nominees are Linda Archambault in Las Vegas, Timothy Dixon in Waycross, Georgia, Jackie Cornelius of Jacksonville, Florida, and Robert Manseau of Litchfield, New Hampshire, and the winners of this recognition award will be announced in September in Washington D.C.
The winners will receive a $3,500 grant for their school, that is intended to improve the learning environment.
