Music's best step out for Billboard Awards

The 2013 Billboard Music Awards took place May 19 and the top names in the music industry came out to support one another and to earn major praise. Though the night belonged to many winners, a few highlights from the show can't be ignored. CNN reports some of the top moments from the bold and fabulous event include a karate chop given out by artist Miguel, fans booing Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift basically sweeping every category. All of these events, plus learning the fate of favorite artists, made the show a huge success.

Who won what?
It seems like no one but Swift needed to attend the recent event since she took home an amazing eight trophies during the awards show. Swift earned the top honors in the Top Female Artist, Top Country Artist, Top Billboard 200 Album, Top Country Album, Top Country Song and the coveted Billboard Artist of the Year award. According to Billboard, Swift beat out Justin Bieber, Maroon 5, One Direction and Rihanna for the title of Artist of the Year.

Though Swift certainly cleaned up at the awards show, she wasn't the only winner. Other artists who walked away with custom trophies include Nicki Minaj as Top Rap Artist, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis for Top Rap Song (Thrift Shop), Madonna as Top Touring Artist and Rihanna as Top Radio Songs Artist. Bieber also earned a few awards including Top Male Artist and the first ever Milestone Award.

Bieber gets booed
Apparently many fans in attendance didn't feel Bieber deserved the Milestone Award – some even booed during his acceptance speech, CNN reports. Bieber tried to be sincere with his speech, highlighting how well he's done at such a young age.

"I'm 19 years old, I think I'm doing a pretty good job," Bieber said during his speech, according to the news outlet. "And basically from my heart I really just want to say it should really be about the music … the craft. … This is not a gimmick, I'm an artist and I should be taken seriously and all this other bull should not be spoken of."

Miguel gets some air
Another moment that is still being talked about is crooner Miguel's performance. While trying to jump over a group of fans to get from one stage to another, the singer landed short, kicking one audience member in the face and landing on another's neck. Though Miguel quickly got up and kept singing, he made sure to check on and meet with the two women following the incident.

"[I] got caught up in the moment, thank goodness Khyati [the woman he landed on] is okay," Miguel tweeted later in the night.
