Computer technology continues to be one of the most important professions, especially as the machines are so heavily used in businesses around the globe. New Horizons Great Lakes recently announced that New Horizons Computer Learning Centers of Detroit was honored with two awards for its outstanding computer training program.

The branch received the Highest U.S. Revenue Location of the Year award and the 2nd Highest Revenue Worldwide award.

“I’m very proud of our employees. This award is attributable to the strong demand for our broad list of training solutions and our exceptional sales team,” said Mark McManus Jr., CEO of New Horizons Great Lakes. “We also have many of the industry’s best instructors, resulting in highly-satisfied students that always come back to New Horizons for their training.”

The work the company provides offers students a chance to make a sustainable living post-graduation. U.S. News Money reports computer programming was listed as number nine for best jobs of 2012. Programmers make an average of $71,380 annually and the field is expected to see a growth of 12 percent from 2010 through 2020. Other popular computer jobs include software developers, database administrators, web developers and computer systems analysts, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
