This year’s BET Awards took place in Los Angeles this past Sunday, and the show was nothing short of exciting.

Awards were given out to Kanye West for Best Male Hip-Hop Artist, and Nicki Minaj for the female equivalent. Jaden Smith and his sister Willow Smith tied for Young Star. Michael Vick also won for Best Sportsman after he returned to football following his 19-month jail sentence for dog fighting.

In addition, Patti Labelle, who is 66 years old and is still performing across the country, was honored with this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award. The presentation consisted of Cee Lo Green dressing up as Labelle as he sang one of her songs. Shirley Caestat and Marsha Ambrosius joined Green on stage before Labelle performed herself.

There was an error, however, in the announcement of this year’s Viewer Choice. The recognition award was presented to Rihanna, and Drake took it on her behalf. But, Rihanna was not the right recipient, her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown was, and this was revealed by the end of the show.
