The Yamaha Contender Miami Billfish Challenge was fun-filled and full of excitement, as the two events boded well for anglers at the Miami Beach Marina on both Friday and Saturday.
The two contests – the Billfish Tournament and the One Day Blast – displayed Saturday as the better day, as 164 sailfish were caught and released. Tallying that up with Friday's totals, the overall number was 206. The Bar South team was the one to come on top, coming from behind with 32 sails and releasing for a total of 3,200 points for both days. Following Bar South were 4-Aces, Get Lit and Captain Jack, who placed second, third and fourth, respectively.
Additionally, Chip Sheehan's catch of 20.30-pound kingfish for No Mercy was the biggest fish of the day.
FineAwards.com, which also had two teams in the running, designed the custom trophy in which the Bar South team was able to take home. The custom award was created specifically for this tournament, as anglers will always have a memento from this fantastic event.
