Someone looking to save a few dollars might try to convince you that cheap acrylic awards look as good as custom awards and crystal trophies, but you and anyone else whose sense of sight and touch are halfway functioning knows the difference. Nothing, no matter how well crafted it is, can match the beauty and clarity of custom awards and crystal trophies.
Price should not really be a factor, anyway. Although some custom awards and crystal trophies may cost a little more than cheap acrylic awards, the durability and quality more than make up for the extra expense.
However, it is in the heightened appearance of custom awards and crystal trophies that the value, whether real or perceived, is found anyway. Even the least expensive of these items still sparkles with clarity and brilliance that acrylic cannot even become to accomplish.
Custom awards (these include plaques, statuettes, loving cups, and other models) usually have enough natural material in them, such as wood for the base and metal or metal allow for the award itself, that it only takes a quick glance to see that they are, or at least appear to be, of a finer quality than acrylic. And, nothing catches and reflects light, either natural or artificial, than crystal trophies.
Further, if the recipients’ accomplishments are enough that a special order is to be placed, the seller will have to adhere to the guidelines that the customer submits anyway, which can include the type of material the customer wishes them to be made of. Unless the seller is unscrupulous, if the customer specifies the type of material to be used in both custom awards and crystal trophies, then the seller should not, for any reason, suggest or substitute cheap acrylic ones.
Custom awards and crystal trophies maintain their appearance longer, and are not as easily scratched or damaged as cheap acrylic ones. Even when cleaned on a regular basis, with substances approved for use on acrylic, tiny scratches will eventually appear on the surface, giving the item a dull look. Further, acrylic can actually undergo color changes, for instance fading from clear to a dull white or yellow. On the other hand, custom awards and crystal trophies only seem to improve with regular cleaning, and slight damage can usually be easily repaired or disguised.
