Some of the brightest Hollywood stars recently got together during the Young Hollywood Awards, which raises awareness of social and ecological issues, and the red carpet was abuzz with fresh faces who do good. The Hollywood Life reports the event, sponsored by Bing, honored the best of the best among new stars and "One Tree Hill" actress Sophia Bush received one of the most important recognition awards of the night.
According to the news outlet, the gorgeous young actress was honored with the Bing Philanthropy Award for her work raising money to help people in need. She spoke about one of her recent humanitarian trips while walking the red carpet.
"I just got back from an impact trip in Guatemala with Pencils of Promise – one of the causes that’s closest to my heart. We are doing a campaign," Bush told the publication. "I decided that I wanted my 30th birthday to mean something more than just the passing of a decade. I think it’s lovely to put your 20s to bed and hit your stride and really get into the next phase of life. I wanted to mark the milestone with something I could look back on and tell my kids about one day."
JustJaredJr.com reports her new fundraiser hopes to use her birthday milestone to raise 30 for 30. The goal is to raise $30,000 in honor of her age to put toward building a school in a small village in Guatemala.
