Elsevier, a scientific, technical and medical information provider, and the National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI) announced the winners for this year's NASI Scopus Young Scientist Awards, which are given to the best of India's early career researchers.
"This is an exciting time for Indian researchers," said Youngsuk Chi, Chairman of the Elsevier Management Committee. "India is quickly adapting its role as a world superpower in research, and has built up an incredible pool of talented scientists at world-class institutions that engage in cutting-edge research. By organizing Scopus Awards in more than 15 countries, Elsevier recognizes the most significant scientific research and honors the researchers who work tirelessly to advance science."
The winners were chosen from approximately 250 applicants in eight different disciplines – agriculture, biological science, chemistry, earth, oceanographic and environmental science, engineering, mathematics, medicine and physics. The judges analyzed everything from the amount of work the researcher has done to the quality of their publications – only eight received the recognition.
