The BET Awards held Sunday night celebrated the best in the black entertainment business, with a few notable people receiving recognition awards for their work in pop culture.
Chris Brown, who has been no stranger to controversy recently, not only performed during the telecast but also picked up a trophy for Best Male R&B Artist. Rounding out the female part of the category was Beyonce, who made sure to thank inspirations Lauryn Hill and Whitney Houston in her acceptance speech.
Jay-Z and Kanye West's "The Throne" collaboration picked up Best Group, while Wale featuring Miguel was recognized as the Best Collaboration.
Best Male and Female Hip Hop Artist awards went to Drake and Nicki Minaj, respectively.
Of course, it wasn't just about the music industry. Comedian Kevin Hart was named Best Actor, while Viola Davis picked up her trophy for Best Actress. Davis' movie "The Help," was also named Best Movie, beating out such stiff competition as "Good Deeds," "Jumping the Broom," "Laugh at My Pain" and "Red Tails."
